NEW! Antlers Program

Lancaster Elks Starting New Antlers Program
The Lancaster Elks Lodge #1625 has started a new youth program called the Lancaster "Antlers". It is all for youth, both male and female, from the ages of 12 to not yet 21. Meetings are held at the Lodge at 240 East Ave K, Lancaster, on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month from 7:00 to 9:00pm. The first hour is the meeting and the 2nd hour is for games. Soda and Popcorn are available.

The program will consist of fun, fellowship, and community service. While being an enjoyable program for youths, it will also help to teach you to be patriotic.

The Antlers of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America has as its major objective the following:

* To quicken the Spirit of American Patriotism.
* To teach repect for parents and love of home.
* To inculcate the fundamentals of good citizenship.
* To aid in a worthy cause.
* To establish foundation of character.
* To promote the welfare and enhance the happiness of character.
* And to respect the conviction of others in the matters of worship and religion is true Americanism.

Our first project is to help build the "Haunted House and to be of some of the "Freaky People", and to help with the games for the kids. In November, we are planning to feed a family for Thanksgiving. Our first program was hosted by Antelope Valley Credit Union. They explained the importance of savings accounts and gave us coupons to start a savings account. Please bring a friend. Officers were initiated and dues were approved.
We invite all teenagers to come to our meetings. Bring your parents on your first visit so both of you will understand our program. Applications are available at the Elks Lodge. All youth from age 12 to not yet 21 are invited to join. For further information, please call Mr. Bill Brehm, Advisor, at 661-724-0529, or the Elks Lodge at

Annual Halloween Party (10/31/11)

Again this year, our Haunted House event for kids under age 12 was a huge success. The total count that came through our front door was approximately 350, plus another 100 parents, grandparents, Aunts and Uncles. A lot of the kids went through the haunted house twice. Others cried before and during the escapade of going through. A lot of screaming too! Games were played by the kids, courtesy of the Antelope Valley Emblem Club #76. Hot Dogs, or Hamburgers plus punch were provide for the kids.
There were approximately 20 volunteers that helped in putting up and taking down the house located in our Lodge Room. Another 6 or so helped participate as spooks inside the house. Plus about 10 more helpers.
All in all, everyone had fun and the kids got off the street and no one got hurt, showing that Elks Care ~ Elks Share

Annual Youth Olympics Cancelled

Our 62nd Annual Invitational Jr. Youth Olympics

Yes, it is a shame that something like this can happen after all these years. Due to budget retraints by the California and the U.S. Governments, our twelve middle schools in the Antelope Valley could not participate in this annual event. The purpose to have this annual event was to give these students an opportunity to compete between the schools. Otherwise they wouldn't have had this oppotunity to compete among themselves. The schools and children always looked forward to participate every year.

Mainly it has encompassed all track events from the 100 meter dash, up to the 1,000 meter relay and run. It included in-field events of the high jump, run and jump, and shot-put. This has always been open to all our Antelope Valley Middle Schools for both Girls and Boys.

More than 40 volunteers from the Lodge gladly give up the second Saturday of May to put this event on every year. In addition, the Ladies of Lancaster Emblem Club #76 traditionally held the opening flag ceremony. Our own Naval Sea Cadets(see our links at left) and others have gladly volunteered to help.

It appears that our public and independent schools are losing interest in participating in our Elk Events, such as Soccer and Hoop Shoot. "It's a Shame!!

Youth Olympics (05/09/09)

Since the beginning of the Annual Invitational Junior Youth Olympics Track Meet in 1948, the event has continued to be one of the most popular sponsored, hosted, and operated by the members of Elks Lodge #1625 in the Antelope Valley. This year was no different.
On May 9th, 2009, Elks Lodge 1625 hosted the 61st Annual Junior Youth Olympics at Quartz Hill High School athletic field. This year eight separate middle schools competed in today’s events. This has given the middle school 7th and 8th grade boys and girls a chance over past years to compete in inter-mural track and in-field events. The track events included the 4X400 Meter relay, 1600 Meter Run, 200 Meter Dash, 400 Meter Dash, 800 Meter Dash, 100 Meter Dash, and the 4X400 Relay. The in-field events included the Long Jump, High Jump and Shot Putt. Records continued to be broken from previous years.
This event today was put on by 54 Elk volunteers and friends who traveled approximately 1,433 miles and devoted approximately 340 hours of their time. The day’s event started out with the flag ceremony conducted by the Emblem Club #76 ladies, our own US Naval Sea Cadets, and PVT Michael “Mike” Grubbs, USMC, from 29 Palms, CA who raised and lowered our flag.
Eight middle schools from throughout the Antelope Valley competed this year with approximately 348 competitors taking part. 8th grade Vanessa Lopez from Endeavor Middle School broke all past school records in the 800 meter run with a running score of 2:34.31.We are very proud of these youngsters and their accomplishments.

The following schools were awarded medals based on the achievements of their students:
