Exalted Ruler's Monthly Message
With the middle of winter upon us, our Lodge has several activities scheduled in February that will make for nice inside social gatherings. Sunday, February 5th, is Super Bowl Sunday and promises to be a good game along with great snacks. On Friday, February 11th, Nancy Jo Hatfield is presenting the Lodge’s Valentines Dance; come out and show your support (and that you don’t have “two left feet”). Bunco will be Thursday night, February 16th, with the prizes and fun times followed by Pot Luck/Karaoke (and dance) on Saturday, February 25th.
On a more serious side, our Lodges nominations for new officers are scheduled for February 7th (1st nomination) and February 14th (2nd nomination). The importance of membership participation in the election process cannot be overstated since we are determining our Lodges future activities and well-being.
Piggy Bank Night is February 18th, and as Elks we all know this is a major fund raising event by the California-Hawaii Elks Association (CHEA) and deserves our utmost support.
Another item of concern is the need for more active recruitment of new “Red Badges” and to sustain their interest as participants in our Lodge. In addition, an effort is getting underway to highlight our Lodge activities locally as a service organization involved with numerous charitable causes. If each of us continue to provide commitment and dedication to Lodge #1625, the continued growth and success are assured for the year 2012.
And remember, Elks Care ~ Elks Share.

My Brothers and Sisters, February 2012 is upon us. This month we will start with Super Bowl Sunday on February 5th, Valentine’s Dance on Friday February 10th, Bunco on February 16th, Piggy Bank Night on Saturday February 18th, Ballroom dancing on February 24th and Pot Luck Karaoke on February 5th. Please check the cover and other pages for the times and other important information concerning these events.
February is also the month in which we have our nominations for officers for the coming year. The first two meetings of the month will have nominations made for each elected position, and the third meeting we will ballot to elect the officers. Remember, YOUR vote counts, so please come to these meetings and participate in the selection of our officers.
I would like to see more members to make it a priority to attend meetings more frequently. Decisons are made at these meetings by a small percentage of our total membership. When you are not there, your voice is not heard in the making of these decisions, so please do not criticize our Officers. They would like the spirited debate and energy that maybe only you can provide. I stress we begin the New Year right and all get involved in getting new members. It is your Lodge, so come in and enjoy it. Be proud that you are a member of Lancaster Elks Lodge #1625.
Have a happy, safe and prosperous New Year, and always remember Elks Care~Elks Share!
Your Esteemed Leading Knight.

Dear Friends; the holidays have just flown by and 2012 is upon us.
In the New Year, it is planned to revise a tradition started by George Hokansen of organizing monthly work parties to clean up our Lodge and grounds and make minor repairs, as necessary.
I volunteered to chair the January 2012 work party, which will take place on Saturday, January 28, starting at 9:00 a.m. There has been a wonderful response by our members to volunteer, and the following have added their name(s) to the list; Jim Brockway, Johnny Costa, Stan Foster, Jerry Gilmore, Bob Hancock PER, K J Miller, Alan Ramage, Lois Riffle and Del Warman.
The main focus of the first work party will be to replace, repair, and install the Lodge room chairs we acquired from Barstow. I will defer to the folks who can best handle this task – our brother Elks, and concentrate on cleaning the inside of the Lodge – the Trophy Room, Banquet Room, etc. If you would like to lend a hand you can call me at (661) 943-2416 (home), or (661) 618-7858 (cell), or e-mail me at 3missjo@gmail.com.
Remember, every improvement we make adds to the pleasure of attending Elk events, and saves the Lodge quite a bit of money.
Until next month, stay well and happy. Love you all.
Your Estemed Lecturing Knight,
Nancy Jo Hatfield
